Pendragon’s Smokehouse isn’t your typical BBQ, and that’s by design. We love traditional BBQ, but we also believe there’s room to do things a little differently. Our rotating monthly menu blends American, British, and Hungarian influences, with a focus on clean ingredients, thoughtful preparation, and delivering everything hot to your door.

We’re delivery-only for now, which means no restaurant to visit, just delicious BBQ brought straight to your door. Everything is pre-ordered online and delivered hot, fresh, and ready to enjoy.

We operate on a pre-order model so we can smoke everything low and slow, just right for your delivery day. Ordering typically closes three (3) days before a scheduled delivery day, but some slots may fill sooner.

Same-day orders aren’t available at this time but we’ll be working towards offering this at a later date.

We publish our menu and delivery calendar during the final week of each month. Once it’s live, you can browse and order at your convenience while slots remain available.

Pendragon’s Smokehouse was founded in 2024 and officially launched in June 2025.

Yes! You can buy digital gift cards directly from our site. They can be used on any order, as long as the recipient lives in one of our delivery towns.

We smoke everything using a commercial-grade smoker built by J&R Manufacturing, a trusted name in the BBQ world for over 50 years. Made in Mesquite, Texas, their smokers are designed for consistent, wood-fired heat and deep smoke flavor, perfect for low-and-slow cooking at scale. We use USDA-certified hardwoods like oak, cherry and hickory to bring out the best in each cut, without rushing the process or overpowering the food.

Our menu changes every month to keep things fresh and seasonal. Each cycle features two smoked proteins, a rotating selection of sides, and one or two house-made desserts, always made from scratch with natural ingredients. We update our menu once a month or so, typically releasing the new lineup during the final week of the current month. That’s when you’ll also see our updated delivery calendar. Subscribe to our newsletter and we’ll keep you posted.

Pat LaFrieda and Wayne Meat Co. supply our meats. Both are long-standing, family-run businesses known for sourcing ethically raised, high-quality meats from small domestic farms. Wayne Meat has been serving the NJ community since 1972.

We’re proud to partner with Hardwood Bros., one of the Northeast’s leading kiln-dried firewood suppliers. Their wood is USDA and APHIS certified, so every split is clean, safe for cooking, and free from pests, mold, and mildew. It burns hot and clean, helping us build the deep flavor and consistency our BBQ depends on.

This isn’t just firewood. It’s a key ingredient. From the bark on our ribs to the depth of the smoke ring, the wood tells its own story.

No shortcuts, no fillers, and nothing unnecessary. Everything we make starts from scratch with real ingredients. Occasionally, we use a stabilizer or emulsifier to improve texture, consistency, or 'travelability' but only when it serves a purpose, and never at the expense of flavor or integrity.

Not at this time. We offer a set menu to maintain consistency and quality. However, if we provide variations (e.g., with or without cilantro), they’ll be listed on the menu.

Some of our dishes have a mild to medium kick, but we always call out anything with real heat. Look for the chili icons on our product pages (0-5 chilis with 5 being a scorcher!)

Mostly we aim for flavor over fire, with recipes designed to be approachable for most palates, including kids. If it’s spicy, you’ll know it before you order.

Some of our sides are vegetarian and clearly labeled. We don’t offer vegan or vegetarian mains yet, but we’re open to expanding based on demand.

We list ingredients and known allergens on each dish, but we work in a shared kitchen. We can’t guarantee a completely allergen-free environment. Reach out if you have questions.

Yes! We rotate a kids meal each month with smaller portions and a drink, made for ages 5–10. You’ll find it listed alongside the main menu.

Each month, we release a new menu and delivery calendar. Just visit our Menu page, choose your town, browse the offerings, and select your delivery date and time slot. Then check out, and you’re all set. We’ll handle the rest, smoking, packing, and bringing your meal hot to your door.

We deliver on select days each week, depending on the town. You’ll see available dates and time slots once you select your town on the menu page. Deliveries typically fall between 5 PM and 9 PM, but we recommend checking your town’s listing for exact timing.

Yes! When placing your order, you’ll be able to select from available 1-hour delivery windows based on your town’s schedule. We’re starting with these slightly broader windows to make sure we can deliver everything smoothly and on time as we fine-tune our routes. Once a slot fills up, it’ll disappear from the list, so we recommend ordering early to lock in your preferred time.

Yes! We’ll send you a couple of friendly reminders. If you book your order far enough in advance, you’ll get an email at the start of the week we’re delivering to you, and another one on the day of delivery. You’ll also receive a text message when we’re on the way to your residence, so you’ll have time to lay the table!

We do our best to reach you when we arrive, but if no one is available, we’ll leave the order at your door unless otherwise noted. All packaging is designed to hold temperature but only for a very short time. If you anticipate any issues receiving your order, just let us know in the notes at checkout and we’ll do our best to accommodate.

Tips are always appreciated, but never expected. If you do choose to leave one at checkout, you’ll see optional tip amounts of 10%, 12.5%, and 15%, because let’s be reasonable.

We’ve built our business to pay our team fairly for the work they do, so no one relies on tipping to earn a living. Every order helps support a team that smokes, packs, and delivers with care.

If you choose to leave a tip, thank you, it goes directly to the hands that made your meal. If you don’t, that’s perfectly okay too. We’re just stoked to cook for you.

Nope. Absolutely not. This practice really pisses us off. We don’t believe in passing our costs onto you just because you’re paying by card. Credit card fees are part of doing business, and we cover them. You won’t see them on your bill.

Yes, our minimum order is $25 before taxes and delivery fees. This helps us keep delivery efficient and food quality high while staying sustainable as a small business.

Orders under $75 include a flat $4.95 delivery fee to help cover the cost of getting your meal to you fresh and on time. Spend $75 or more, and delivery is on us. Either way, you’ll see the exact fee at checkout.

We accept all major credit and debit cards, Apple Pay, and Google Pay through our secure checkout. Payments are processed at the time of your order to reserve your slot.

When you visit our menu page, you’ll be prompted to select your town from the list of places we currently serve. If your town is listed, you’re good to go.

You’ll see the available delivery dates and time slots immediately. We currently deliver to a select list of towns in New Jersey. We’re starting small to ensure quality and consistency, but expansion is part of our plan.

Yes, our delivery model is designed to grow over time based on demand. We’re currently focusing on a few core towns to fine-tune our operations, but we absolutely plan to expand. We keep it simple: wrap the meats in foil and place them in a preheated oven at 275°F until warmed through. Timing depends on whether the food is coming straight from the fridge or room temperature, but 30 to 60 minutes is a good range.

We don’t recommend using a microwave, it’s way too aggressive and tends to dry out the meat by boiling the water inside the muscle fibers. The oven is a much gentler and more consistent method.

If you have a sous vide setup, that’s even better, it’ll reheat evenly while preserving moisture and texture.

Yes, most of our meats freeze well (sides, not so much). For best results, transfer meals into a freezer-safe container, label with the date, and freeze as soon as possible.

When you’re ready to enjoy, defrost overnight in the fridge and follow the reheating method above.

Our meals will stay fresh in the fridge for up to 3 days after delivery. For desserts and sauces, check the packaging for additional guidance. Always refrigerate items promptly after receiving your delivery.

Most of our containers are microwave safe, but we don’t recommend using them to reheat meats or sides.

Microwaves heat unevenly and can compromise the texture of slow-cooked food. The oven (or sous vide, if you have one) is the way to go for best results.

Yes, we offer catering for small events, office gatherings, celebrations, and casual get-togethers. We currently cater to groups within about a 10 mile radius of our kitchen - e.g. As far north as Pompton Plains, east as Clifton/Nutley/East Orange, south as Short Hills/Florham Park/Morristown and west as Morris Plains/Denville. We require a minimum of two weeks advance notice to coordinate properly. You can get in touch with us here if you'd like to chat about an up coming event.

We’re happy to support a range of occasions: from backyard birthdays and family dinners to team gatherings and community events.

If it’s casual, food-forward, and in our delivery radius, we can likely make it happen.

We ask that catering be booked at least 14 days in advance, especially for larger groups or weekend events. That said, the more notice you can give us, the better! It helps us plan, prep, and deliver your order with the same level of care we bring to every meal.

Catering is built around our current monthly menu, but we’re open to expanding the options to better suit your event. If you’re looking to offer your guests or team a wider selection, we’re happy to discuss additional items that can be included. We offer delivery only at this time. All catering orders are delivered hot, clearly labeled, and packed for easy unpacking and serving.

While we don’t provide on-site setup or staffing, we do build in a one-hour buffer from delivery to serving time to ensure everything’s ready when your guests arrive.

We’ll work with you to coordinate timing so your meal lands exactly when it needs to, no cold trays, no stress.

Yes. All of our packaging is either recyclable or compostable, depending on the material and we do not use plastic.

We’ve chosen containers that keep your food hot and secure during delivery while minimizing environmental impact. Each item is clearly labeled so you’ll know exactly how to dispose of it responsibly.

As much as possible, yes. We work with regional suppliers who share our values around quality and sustainability including trusted meat purveyors and local produce vendors.

Sourcing locally helps us reduce food miles, support nearby businesses, and bring fresher ingredients to your plate.

We operate on a pre-order model, which means we only prepare what’s been ordered. No guessing, no overproduction. This allows us to minimize waste in the kitchen and ensure every meal is made with purpose.

Any surplus ingredients are repurposed thoughtfully or composted when possible.

All of our deliveries are made using our BrightDrop electric van, which produces zero tailpipe emissions and helps us reduce the environmental impact of each route.

While we’re not fully carbon-neutral (that depends on how the electricity is sourced), using EVs is a conscious step toward doing things better. We know BBQ uses fire and smoke, but we’re doing our part to balance that out by running efficient delivery routes, minimizing waste, and building a more sustainable operation as we grow.

Yes, but you’ll need to contact us directly. We accept changes or cancellations up until 12 noon the day before your delivery. Just reach out using the contact details in your order confirmation and we’ll handle it from our end. After that cutoff, we begin prepping and smoking your meal, and changes can no longer be guaranteed.

Because every meal is made to order, we don’t offer refunds as a standard option, especially for cancellations made after the cutoff. That said, if something comes up and you can no longer receive your order, we’ll do our best to help.

Here are your options:

• Full store credit – We’re happy to issue you store credit for the full value of your order, which you can use on any future delivery. This is the easiest and cleanest option for both sides.
• Refund (minus credit card fee) – If you prefer a refund, we can do that too but we’ll deduct the credit card processing fee (usually a few dollars). That’s a cost we incur the moment your payment is processed, and we don’t get it back.
• Gift it forward – If you’d like to send the meal to a family member, friend or neighbor instead, we’re happy to try and reroute your order to any address on that day’s delivery route, just let us know as early as possible.

We’re a small business with a hands-on kitchen and a delivery team that plans each route with care. These policies help us keep waste low, quality high, and our service personal. If anything about your experience doesn’t meet your expectations, please get in touch, we’ll always work to make it right.

Sometimes things slip through the cracks and if that happens, we want to know right away.

If something’s missing, incorrect, or doesn’t arrive during your selected time window, please reach out as soon as you can. We’ll look into it quickly and do our best to make it right. Whether that’s a replacement, store credit, or another solution that works for you.

Please note: we can’t change your delivery to a different town than the one originally scheduled, since each route is planned in advance.
