Sweet, smoky, and lots of flavor, Pen’s Pit-Smoked Baked Beans are no afterthought. We start with tender navy beans, add in smoked beef chuck, caramelized onions, and garlic, then slow-simmer everything in a rich sauce made from crushed tomatoes, brewed coffee, molasses, and mustard. A pinch of cumin and smoked paprika bring warmth, while a splash of vinegar brightens the finish.
